↘Our Story

Grumcam has been operating in eastern Cameroon since the 1960s, and for the past two decades has been part of the ALPIcam group, with the aim of having control over the entire supply chain, from the log to the finished product, and ensuring that the species of wood taken from its forests are processed locally.

The ALPI group has been operating in Cameroon for some fifty years and is a major player in the country's forestry industry.

The ALPI group has been based in Douala at Bonabéri-Mambanda site since 1974 and is an attractive employment hub with around 700 employees and an infrastructure that is one-of-a-kind on the African continent. It specializes in the production of ayous lumber and veneers, using an exclusive manufacturing technique which transforms into a material known as recomposed wood. The company’s flagship product is ALPIlignum, recognized all over the world for its high level of quality and technical features, making it possible to offer a flawless product in the field of furniture veneering.

Grumcam manages four forest management units (FMUs), including 2 concessions and 2 partnership.

The industrial site is located at Mindourou in the Kadey department, covering an area of 15 ha.

The site employs around 520 men and women from all over Cameroon. Over the years, the company has built 120 homes and developed a commissary and a health centre to look after the needs of its employees.

Today, given the large number of ayous trees in the forests, Grumcam has become the main supplier of certified raw material to produce ALPIlignum. Thanks to the ALPI group, the Grumcam brand of lumber and logs is present in international markets, particularly in Europe, America, and Asia.

↘Domestic wood market

Grumcam has been working for many years to promote the emergence of the domestic timber market and the industry that accompanies it. Grumcam contributes to the government’s efforts to develop the domestic timber market by helping to develop Common Initiative Group (CIGs), strategic partnerships for the enhancement of timber.Three CIGs have been set up around the Mindourou plant, where they mainly recover and process wood waste. These initiatives contribute to the local economy and enable the setting up of small businesses in the area.
